Grace and Lucas are self-described “yes people” and brought a spirit of warmth, personality, and deep emotional resonance to their stunning early August wedding in Chicago. From heartfelt tributes to playful party vibes, their day was the perfect reflection of who they are: stylish, sentimental, and full of life.
Getting Ready at The Robey Hotel
The day began at the ever-chic Robey Hotel in Wicker Park, where Grace and Lucas got ready surrounded by close friends and family. Their first look took place on the lower level of the Robey. As Grace approached Lucas, her bouquet told a silent story. Wrapped delicately around the stems was a photo charm honoring Lucas’s late sister. The moment he saw it was tender, emotional, and unforgettable. That quiet tribute would echo again during the reception, when Lucas’s brother-in-law and nephew gave a moving speech in her memory.
Before heading to the ceremony, the couple and their bridal party braved the heat for portraits at the lush Lincoln Park Conservatory and the area near Café Brauer. While the weather was very hot—classic Chicago in August—it didn’t slow down Grace and Lucas. Surrounded by greenery, flowers, and the warmth of their favorite people, the photos captured that rare mix of editorial beauty and natural joy.
A Reception Full of Personality
After their traditional Catholic ceremony at the breathtaking St. Vincent de Paul Church, the bridal party hopped about a trolley for a celebratory ride. They made their way to their reception at Rockwell on the River, a venue known for its industrial-chic vibe and riverside setting. The reception kicked off with one of the most entertaining bridal party intros we’ve seen. Bridesmaids danced in with flowing, ethereal fabrics, while the groomsmen made their entrance holding oversized Lucas heads—yes, Lucas heads. It was the perfect icebreaker and had guests laughing before dinner even began.
As the night unfolded, so did a stream of unforgettable details. Espresso martinis made their way into guests’ hands as late-night energy surged. Ice cream sandwiches followed soon after—just one of many sweet (and delicious) touches that reflected the couple’s laid-back, guest-focused approach to the evening.
In a nod to their creative spirit, they handed out flash cameras and encouraged candid fun. We even joined in, capturing spontaneous moments on film alongside our usual digital shots—breaking out of the norm and embracing their playful, anything-goes vibe.
A Celebration of Connection
Above all, what stood out most about Grace and Lucas’s wedding day was the way they interacted with each other. Their connection is steady, easy, and full of joy. They move through life hand in hand—saying “yes” to new adventures, honoring what matters most, and never missing a chance to laugh (or dance).
